Minhas justas observações de nada valeram, e suas doces insistências foram tais que acabei por contentá-lo. Feliz pela vitória alcançada, se dirigiu para a igreja”.

Durante a hora que eu passei em sua companhia, fui grandemente edificado pelo seu exemplar comportamento, e pude notar todas as santas maneiras que ele usava para se manter acordado, apesar das insistências do sono e do cansaço: às vezes se levantava, às vezes lia, às vezes recitava o rosário e assim passou toda a noite, até às 4h da manhã, hora em que pediu e recebeu a santa Comunhão. Ainda depois disso, ficou uma hora em Ação de Graças. Às 5h, quando a igreja se abriu para o público, ele saiu tranqüilamente”.
